Springfield police are looking for the gunman after someone chased down another man and shot him. The shooting happened near the intersection of Race and High streets around midnight.

Springfield ShootingAuthorities said Titus Arnold, 23, was shot in the head and was found lying on the ground near a pickup truck. Police said Arnold worked for Vision For Youth, an organization that helps troubled teens.

Investigators said Arnold was leaving work and headed toward his car when he was gunned down. Witnesses said that Arnold was seen running from his assailant toward Race and High streets, when he was shot.

Medics rushed Arnold to a Springfield hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police describe Arnold as a young man who gave so much of himself to help trouble teens. At this time, authorities do not believe his death was related to his work.

Springfield police said this is the city's first homicide of the year and they are taking this shooting very personally since so many officers knew him.
