Police in Fairborn are searching for the man accused of robbing a Fairborn bar. The robbery happened at the Main Place Lounge on West Main Street on Wednesday night.

A bar regular, Chuck Smith, said the robber walked in wearing a mask and holding a gun. He said the robber told everyone to get on the floor. Smith said the robber demanded money, fired a couple of shots into the air and then ran out the door.

Smith said the police were called and then came to gather evidence and investigate.

John Molnar has owned the Main Place Lounge for 27 years and said this was the first robbery he has ever had. Molnar said he was not able to find any bullet holes in the ceiling, so he wonders if the gun the robber fired was real.

Molnar said there were about a dozen customers in the bar when the robber walked in. He said a bar is one of the worst places to rob because there can be a lot of witnesses and some may be intoxicated and try to stop the robbery.

According to Molnar, the robber got away with about $200. He said he has a theory about a possible motive for the robbery. Molnar said he attributes the robbery to drug problems in the area.

According to a police report, the robber is described as a black male stands 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighs around 250 pounds. Police said the man fled the scene in an 80s model dark-colored car.
