Threatening Racial Graffiti Found Inside High School

Police are questioning a 17-year-old student after threatening racial graffiti was found inside a local high school. The graffiti was found inside a restroom at Vandalia Butler High School.

Vandalia GraffitiAuthorities said two African-American students were the targets. According to a police report, the racial graffiti was painted on a stall inside the boys restroom.

Investigators said the painting was that of a tree with two African-Americans hanging from it.

According to the police report, the principal at Vandalia High School called a meeting Monday of the student body and explained what had happened. He even asked for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Authorities said several students came forward and provided information. Police questioned one teen.

Investigators said the student could face ethnic intimidation charges. The superintendent said if the student is found guilty, the student may be expelled.
