Teen Arrested In Connection Of Robbery Of Postal Carrier
Englewood police said Thursday they have made an arrest in connection with the robbery of a letter carrier.
The robbery happened Wednesday afternoon on Mathison at West Third streets.
Investigators said the teen approached the letter carrier and demanded his postal uniform.
Police said the teen took his shirt, hat, ID and mailbag before running away.
Thursday morning, police said they received several calls from shoppers at the Meijers store on North Main Street in Englewood.
Callers were reporting seeing a young male dressed in a letter carrier's shirt, hat and carrying a mailbag.
Investigators said dispatchers were able to locate the suspect in the parking lot using surveillance cameras put in by the city.
They said dispatchers were able to track the suspect's movements on the cameras and direct responding officer's to his location.
The suspect was taken into custody a short time later, and officers said he was still wearing the letter carrier's uniform.
Investigators said after further investigation, they believed the suspect was arrested just before committing multiple robberies similar to the one from Wednesday.
The teen was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on aggravated robbery charges.
