Man Faces Charges For Assault On Police Dog

KETTERING, Ohio -- Authorities said a man wanted by police was released from a local hospital and is now behind bars.On Tuesday, Moraine police said Terrence Brewer assaulted a police dog who then attacked him.Authorities said Brewer has a criminal history and that on Tuesday night, he broke into a home and was later found by the homeowner. Officer Paul Guess said the homeowner found Brewer sitting at the kitchen table.Police said she called for help and with the help of a police dog, Brewer was found hiding behind a nearby shed. Officers said he resisted arrest.Guess said Brewer struck the police dog in the nose and ended up being bitten on his ear as a result.Brewer has been charged with assaulting a police dog – a charge police don’t take lightly. Guess said an assault on an officer and a dog carry the same penalty.Police said Brewer was in the Moraine neighborhood because he was wanted in Kettering for failing to show for a domestic violence charge. Authorities said his charges are mounting.He has now been charged with burglary and resisting arrest. Brewer is expected to face a judge for the first time on Thursday.
