WPAFB’s 88th Medical Group Flies To New Orleans

WPAFB, Ohio -- More people from the Miami Valley are on their way to the Gulf Coast to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.More than a dozen workers from Wright-Patterson’s 88th Medical Group left early Friday morning for the storm-ravaged area.The workers flew out of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base around 5 a.m. onboard a C-141. The nurses, doctors and medical technicians normally work at the base's medical center, but now they will be attending to the sick and needy in New Orleans.Officials with the medical group said the workers will be treating people and operating out of tents that will be set up.At this time, the medical group will be in the South for 120 days or less; however, there is no official timeline for their return.
