Tom Raper Provides More Mobile Temporary Housing

RICHMOND, Indiana -- Relief for Katrina’s victims will be coming in the form of recreational vehicles.More mobile housing is expected to leave from Richmond on Monday morning to help the victims and members of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.FEMA sent out the word that it needed help, so the owner of Tom Raper RVs is coming to its aid. Large RVs will be used as office space for FEMA, while other RVs will be used as temporary housing for hurricane victims.Volunteers from across the Miami Valley are helping by taking the RVs into the storm-ravaged areas. The need to help victims of the hurricane is prompting many people to volunteer to drive 900 miles awayThey are taking the RVs to a FEMA location in Baton Rouge, La. The drivers used their own vehicles to pull the temporary homes for the victims.The first group of 44 RVs left on Friday from Raper’s Fairfield location.Officials said each RV will be loaded with donated food, blankets, furniture and cleaning supplies.It is expected that a total of 1,000 RVs will be leaving from Tom Raper’s locations between now and October.
