Versailles Company Files For Bankruptcy Protection

VERSAILLES, Ohio -- A longtime industry in Versailles has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is expected to close its doors.The company is Whiteford Food Products Inc., and is located on North Center Street in Darke County. The company filed for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday.Officials with the company announced that 60 of its 90 employees will be laid off.Whiteford Foods processes and packages ground beef. At one time, the company was the third largest industry in Versailles with 175 employees.
