GM To Slash Vehicle Prices
The nation’s number 1 automaker has come out swinging in an attempt to win back customers. General Motors said this is the first step in dropping prices, something they hope will bring back old customers and create new one.GM has been under assault from foreign automakers as sales slumped and its market share slid downward. It wants to turn that trend around by doing the same as Wal-Mart does by using falling prices. The showrooms of car dealers that sell GM products have not been as full over the past several years. But, the company’s new plan has the full support of a Troy dealership that sells Chevrolet products.Scott Miller with Joe Johnson Chevrolet said, “I thinks it’s a good strategy to get the word out about quality. We have the best quality we’ve had in years.”Millers said GM’s plan will drop prices hundreds or thousands of dollars on most models. This should help GM models appeal to customers that do homework on the Internet even before heading to any dealer.Miller said a Trailblazer at his dealership was built in Moraine and has a sticker prices of more than $35,000. Now it is priced to sell at $32,740.The new lower prices go into effect immediately. GM estimates about $1,300 will be cut on most models, including Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick and GMC.
