WARREN COUNTY, Ohio -- Authorities said David Hopper is still in a Kentucky jail cell, but is expected to be brought back to Warren County soon. He is the only suspect in a double rape that took place in a model home in Franklin Township over a week ago.Hopper was arrested after Kentucky police found out he pawned two rings that belonged to and were identified by the two alleged victims. At this time, Hopper, 42, of Burlington, Ky., is behind bars on charges of receiving stolen property. Authorities said the rape victims have identified him as the man who sexually assaulted them in the model home they were working in.Investigators in Warren County are waiting for DNA evidence that could link him to other similar crimes as well.Hopper’s family released a statement that reads, in part, “This David S. Hopper that has been accused of committing these crimes is not the same person that we know and love. The whole family is absolutely shocked, stunned and hurting beyond belief at these allegations against him.”Hopper was arraigned in Kentucky on Monday morning on the charge of receiving stolen property. His bond was increased from $100,000 to $500,000. Officials said Hopper requested a public defender, who then in turn, advised Hopper against signing papers waiving his extradition back to Ohio.A pre-trial hearing has been set for Feb. 23.
