MORAINE, Ohio -- More than 1,100 General Motors workers will soon be without jobs after the company announces that they are eliminating the third shift at the Moraine Assembly plant beginning July 17.The workers were told the news Monday night when they arrived at the plant for the third shift. The company said the elimination of the third shift is because there are more vehicles being built than buyers. The company said it is trying to make ends meet.Company officials said the cuts may continue. NewsCenter 7 said last week that GM has no production plans for the plant after September 2008.In order for the plant to stay open, the IUE would have to agree to concessions, including even more job cuts.
