DAYTON, Ohio -- Police in Dayton said a husband and wife are both in the hospital after being shot in front of their children during a violent home invasion.

The shooting happened Friday night on Brownell in Dayton. Police said two men armed with guns broke into the home, shot the couple, then took off.

Officers said the man was shot in the groin, while his wife was shot in the leg. Police found the couple's two young children upset and crying.

Investigators said the two suspects are on the run. They said the motive for the shooting was not immediately clear.
