Man Jailed, Suspected Of Stealing Semi

A man is behind bars Thursday, accused by police of stealing an 18-wheeler loaded with auto parts from General Motors.

Police said the truck was stolen from a trucking company in Harrison Township. Investigators said a satellite tracking system gave dispatchers a minute-by-minute account of the alleged truck thief’s travels.

Cordell Trucking uses satellites to track their fleet, and it was something that Stephen Kinstle, 25, didn't count on when, police said, he helped himself to a tractor-trailer that was loaded with more than $100,000 worth of GM products.

Investigators think Kinstle took the truck from a place on Webster Street, and then led officers on a chase.

Employees at Cordell saw the truck in the lot Thursday morning and then realized that the big rig was missing.

Officers said they had to use a Taser gun on Kinstle to get him out of the semi after he finally stopped near Riverside Middle School in Riverside.

Police think that alcohol may be a factor in why Kinstle took the truck and fled from officers.
