Dad Accidentally Hits Baby With BB Pellet

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- A 10-month-old boy was rushed to an area hospital after he was hit in the head by a pellet from a BB gun.According to reports from the Springfield Police Department, David Walden, 22, of 739 N. Belmont Ave., fired the gun inside his home Wednesday afternoon. The report said Walden picked up the gun and noticed something was wrong with the trigger, and he fired the gun twice. A pellet ricocheted off the fireplace and hit the child in the head.Paramedics took the boy to Community Hospital, but he was later transported to Children's Hospital for treatment.Barb Frye, the baby's aunt, said the BB was lodged under the skin of the child's head, but she said doctors do not think the boy will have any brain damage.So far, no charges have been filed. Springfield police could not comment on the case, but officers said the incident is still under investigation.
