Dayton flag shop moving to Kettering

By Mark Fisher

Staff Writer

The Creative Banners Flags & Poles shop at 656 S. Main St. just south of downtown Dayton will move later this fall to the 1006 E. Dorothy Lane in Kettering.

The banner shop’s current Dayton property was purchased earlier this month by Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley, according to Peter Kurtz, son of the shop’s owners and manager of Creative Banners. The non-profit Goodwill Easter Seals has purchased several other tracts along the Main Street and Warren Street corridor just south of U.S. 35 and is building a headquarters, a community service center and other facilities there.

Creative Banners, which is celebrating its 34th year in business this year, will close its current location by the end of October and hopes to open in its new leased Kettering location, which formerly housed Millie’s Bridal Shoppe, about 30 days later, Kurtz said.

The store will likely expand its hours after the move is complete, Kurtz said.
