Last season, Dayton Ballet's Nutcracker celebrated 13 years of entertaining the Miami Valley with its delightful staging of the beloved classic. That production of Nutcracker placed the story in the Silberhaus home in Dayton of 100 years earlier, and among the party guests were families of Dayton's rich history. The plot centered on young Clara, the Silberhaus' daughter. Dayton Ballet Director, Dermot Burke, emphasizes it is Dayton Ballet's mission, "…to educate, as well as, entertain our patrons," therefore; he focused the story within the illustrious past of Dayton.
