1 dead after 2-vehicle crash in Turtlecreek Twp.

Staff Report

TURTLECREEK TWP. —

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Turtlecreek Twp. Monday morning.

A 56-year-old Dayton woman driving a gray Honda Civic was sideswiped by a red Honda Truck at the intersection of Hart and Kirby roads after the woman failed to yield at a stop sign, according to Lt. Matt Hamilton of the Ohio Highway State Patrol. The woman was headed east on Kirby Road, while the truck was headed south on Hart Road. The truck hit the car with such impact that it spun the vehicles around so that the truck struck the car twice, Hamilton said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the truck driver nor a juvenile passenger in the truck were injured, Hamilton said.

Hamilton said the driver of the Civic may have been unfamiliar with the area roads and was also possibly blinded by sunlight. He said police would return to the scene of the accident tomorrow to see if the sunlight could have possibly been a factor. Neither speed nor alcohol were believed to be factors, Hamilton said.

This is the first fatal accident at this intersection this year, Hamilton said.
