1 Dead In Miami County Crash

Deputies in Miami County continue to investigate a fatal crash that left a Darke County man dead.

The collision happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of state routes 571 and 55 between West Milton and Laura when a semi collided head-on with a car.

Deputies said the driver of a semi-tractor, not pulling a trailer, tried to avoid hitting a stopped delivery truck and slammed head-on into a car.

Paul Campbell, 50, of Gettysburg, died at the scene, and the semi driver, Debra Scott, 49, of Sabina, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Scott is listed in good condition and deputies said she could face several charges, including vehicular homicide.

Deputies said speed, alcohol and drugs did not play a factor in the crash.

The Miami County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation.
