Staff Report
DAYTON —
Two men were arrested Thursday after they were caught trying to sell stolen frisbees worth hundreds of dollars.
James Bernard Padgett, 22, and Matthew Thomas Ruemping, 23, were arrested around 7:30 p.m. at the Hazy Shade Store, 638 Watervliet Ave., according to the Dayton police report.
Police said the pair walked into the Hazy Shade, a store dedicated to the sport of frisbee golf, and attempted to sell back dozens of frisbees that had been stolen out of vehicles, according to the report.
The store’s manager had been notified earlier by one of the victims to be on the lookout for his discs, each of which had been personally inscribed, according to the report.
A total of 59 discs were recovered and returned to the two people who owned them, according to the report.
A Hazy Shade employee said Friday that some of the discs were worth up to $50 a piece, because they were first editions and thus fly better.
