2 defendants in murder cases Miami Co. court

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio —

Two individuals indicted last week by the Miami County Grand Jury were arraigned Tuesday afternoon before Miami County Common Pleas Judge Robert Lindeman.

Donald Pepper of  West Milton entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of aggravated murder.

He's accused of the beating death of a friend back on April 13.

Pepper's cash bond was continued at $1,000,000.

Travis Lee Gauldin of Troy was arraigned on a charge of murder. He is accused of pushing the 4-year-old daughter of  his "then girlfriend" down 16 steps on April 12. Two days later Malisa DeLeSancha died at Children's Medical Center in Dayton from blunt force trauma. It happened in a home that he shared with Malisa's mother on1012  Caldwell Street in Piqua

Gauldin's cash bond was continued at $550,000. He entered a plea of not guilty.

Both cases have been assigned to Judge Christopher Gee. Pepper and Gaudlin are back in Gee's court on June 11 for pre-trial conferences at which time trial dates are expected to be scheduled.
