DAYTON —
Police said alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night that sent a man and woman toa hospital.
Police and emergency crews responded at about 9:25 p.m. to the scene on Steve Whalen Boulevard near the U.S. 35 underpass. Two people were injured when a silver four-door sedan struck the median concrete barrier.
Jessica Vasquez, 26, and passenger Brandon Walling, 28, were headed north on Steve Whalen when the vehicle struck the barrier, said Dayton Sgt. Eric Sheldon.
Both were taken by ambulance to Miami Valley Hospital; Vasquez suffered a head injury not believed to be life threatening and Walling was treated for whiplash-type symptoms, Sheldon said.
They had been drinking at Ned Peppers on East Fifth Street prior to the crash and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor, Sheldon said.
