PREBLE COUNTY —

A Columbus man is facing felony drug charges after 2.5 kilos of heroin were seized from his vehicle during a traffic stop.

At 12:54 p.m. Tuesday, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stopped a rented 2012 Dodge Charger for an unsafe lane change violation on Interstate 70 near milepost 6, according to a release. A drug sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle, and a probable cause search warrant revealed 2.5 kilos of heroin concealed in the false bottom of a piece of luggage.

The driver, identified as Juan Carlos Arcos, 23, was charged with possession of heroin, a first-degree felony, and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony, according to the release. He was also cited with driving without a valid license and making an unsafe lane change.

Arcos faces up to 11 years in prison and up to a $22,500 fine if convicted.
