3 duct-taped, robbed in Dayton home invasion

DAYTON, Ohio —

Police in Dayton said a man was tied up, attacked and robbed during a home invasion early Wednesday morning.

The victim, Gregory Williams, said he thought he was helping out someone he knew. However, that person and some accomplices helped themselves to Williams' belongings.

Williams said three men stolen thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, appliances, tools and other items from his home. He said the men even took his wedding ring off his finger.

The home invasion happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday on Owens Drive when a man Williams knew came to his door and asked to use his phone.

Williams said he let the man in, but after his call, two men burst through the front door and fought with Williams. He said the men then tied him up and made him go into the kitchen.

"One dude said 'Don't try to be no hero' and I said, 'I won't don't worry,' because I didn't know what they had on them, you know?" Williams said.

Officers said two women in the house were duct-taped and kept inside a side room as the three men ransacked the house.

Police said they are still searching for three black men approximately 25 years old and in a possible stolen car.

The car is a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu with a license plate number of EAA 4267, according to police.
