Three people were injured Monday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 south, just north of the Benchwood Road exit.

Traffic continued to flow as the vehicles involved in the 2:30 p.m. crash ended up off the highway.

Police said a sport utility vehicle struck a wall then hit a truck and a small Honda before smashing into a pole.

The SUV driver and passenger, estimated to be in their 70s, were taken to a hospital as was the driver of the Honda.

Police said minutes before the crash, the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center received calls from motorists reporting that an SUV was being driven erratically.

Police said it is possible that the SUV’s driver may have suffered a medical emergency, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

There was no word Monday night about the condition of the people involved in the accident or whether there would be possible traffic citations.
