6,600 old tired recycled in Darke County

10th year for this tire "round-up"

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio —

Thursday was the tenth anniversary of the Darke County Tire Recycling project. It was a joint effort of the Darke County Solid Waste District and employee of the Rumpke transfer station near Greenville.

6,600 tires were scheduled to be brought to Rumpke's, 200 more tires than 2011.

The program was first started in 2003. How many tires have been recycled since then was the question I asked Krista Fourman of the Solid Waste District. Her answer, "Thousands and thousands and thousands." I thought for sure she would of  had the answer!
