The mother who reported her child as being abducted was arrested and will be booked into the Montgomery County Jail, according to police. The arrest came after police said she made up a story about her child’s abduction Saturday night.

Dana Jordan, 30, was taken into custody is being held on suspicion of inducing panic and filing a false police report, after she reported her daughter had been abducted from her vehicle on Burman Avenue late Saturday, police said.

A nationwide AMBER Alert was issued by authorities around midnight Sunday, after Jordan called police to report the abduction. Jordan told police she had left her daughter unattended in the vehicle and went inside her home, 328 Burman Ave., around 10:45 p.m. She told police the vehicle and her daughter were both missing when she came back outside.

Around 3 a.m. authorities found the child safe, sleeping on a couch at a neighbor’s home. Authorities canceled the AMBER Alert at that time.

“The one with the AMBER Alert was laying on the couch asleep, fully clothed, with a sheet sound asleep,” Trotwood Sgt. Brent Rasor said. “It took me a while to wake her up. [She’s] doing fine.”

An initial investigation showed Jordan knew her daughter was safe around 15 minutes after she first alerted police of her disappearance, but officers said that portion of the case is still under investigation.

Officers located the reported stolen vehicle several blocks away in front of 624 Ellsworth Dr. about an hour after the initial report of the abduction. Police said they are still investigating the vehicle theft portion of the case, and at this time they do not have any suspects.

Police said the child was safe and unharmed at the neighbor’s home. The daughter and Jordan’s other child will be staying with grandparents, police said.

The case remains under investigation by the Trotwood Police Department, which received assistance from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
