DAYTON, Ohio —

Police in Dayton call it an ambush that left a man shot multiple times. The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday outside a house in the 2600 block of North Gettysburg Avenue.

Detectives said a 40-year-old man had just pulled into his driveway when someone hiding in the bushes opened fire, hitting the man at least six times.

Officers arrived and found a car riddled with bullets in the driveway and the victim bleeding inside the house.

Officers said they are familiar with the victim and fear that when he recovers, he may retaliate. Despite being shot several times, the man made it into his house, where his daughter called 911, police said.

Medics rushed the victim to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. Officers said he is expected to survive.

If you have any information about this shooting, contact Dayton police at 333-COPS.
