Apartment Fire Displaces Several Residents

KETTERING, Ohio —

Flames broke out in four units of the Heritage Knoll apartments at 5544 Bigger Road just before 6 a.m. Sunday the Kettering Fire Department said.

The Connor Group, the complex's owners, have made arrangements to help the 12 people affected by the fire.

The residents have moved into other units of the complex and have received one month of free rent and a Wal-Mart gift card to purchase necessities lost in the fire, Connor Group Director of Communication Kristen Bowser said.

One resident who lost electricity due to the fire is staying in a hotel while repairs are made.

The fire is still under investigation, but the Kettering Fire Department thinks it was caused by an electrical problem.
