A man accused of raping a mentally challenged teenager after nearly two decades is in Montgomery County Jail.

David L. Grimes, 50, of 5445 Haverfield Road in Beavercreek, was indicted on July 24 for two counts of rape. The crime occurred in August and September of 1994, according to the indictment.

The prosecutor’s office said the crime may have happened in Kettering, and the victim may have been 13 or 14 years old.

On July 24, a warrant was issued for Grimes to be moved from the Madison Correctional Institution to the Montgomery County Jail. Grimes was transferred on Monday.

Grimes was serving a one-year sentence in Madison County for an OVI conviction. He is scheduled to be released in September.
