Austin Landing Kroger opens today

MIAMI TWP. —

The new Kroger store in the Austin Landing development is opening today.

The 99,000-square-foot supermarket will include a drive-through pharmacy and fueling center, and will employ about 300 workers. It is located north of the Kohl’s department store that is already open at Austin Landing.

The Cincinnati-based Kroger’s newest store is expected to draw 5,000 to 7,000 customers a day, Kroger officials told Miami Twp. trustees in March.

Grand opening festivities include an 8 a.m. performance by the Central State University’s band. Steve Wright, the great-grandnephew of the Wright Brothers will be in attendance. WLW radio personality, Jim Scott, will meet customers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Beginning at 7 a.m. each day of opening weekend, the first 300 customers will receive a coupon for a selected free product, according to a release.
