AUGLAIZE COUNTY —
The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in solving an unsolved homicide from 1978.
The homicide of Roger L. Parent at the P and S Carryout in St. Marys on Dec. 29, 1978 has remained open for the past 34 years, according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Al Solomon recently requested the assistance of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation in solving the case.
“Any unsolved homicide is always in the back of your mind,” Solomon said in a release. “This case has been in the back of the minds of the last three sheriffs.”
A meeting was recently held with retired police, sheriff deputies and investigators to brainstorm ideas, but no strong leads resulted, according to authorities.
Solomon encouraged residents to review the case on the Ohio BCI website. Those with information can remain anonymous by calling (419) 739-6555.
