Bellefontaine battles house fire

BELLEFONTAINE —

Extra fire fighters were called in to battle a blaze Sunday morning just before 6:30am.

Bellefountaine fire and EMS crews responded to a report of a residential structure fire at 135 North Stanley Street. All off-duty fire fighters were called in and mutual aid from Tri-Valley Fire and EMS.

When fire crews arrived, heavy fire was showing from the rear of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished. Residences on both sides of the fire building sustained damage. The scene was cleared at 10:30am.

The home was not occupied at the time of the fire. A neighbor was the one who called 911 to report the fire. A Bellefountaine fire report stated approximately $60,000  in fire damage to the fire building, approximately $5,200 in damage to the exposures.

The fire is under investigation.
