XENIA TWP. —

A Greene County house was destroyed by a fire today.

Just after 11 a.m., fire crews responded to the house on Waynesville Jamestown Road in Xenia Twp. Initial reports indicate the blaze started when a car caught fire in an attached garage.

At 12:35 p.m., those on the scene reported hearing explosive sounds, possibly from ammunition. Firefighters backed off from the fire for a few minutes while the ammunition went off.

The house, which was valued at $500,000, is considered a total loss.

Fire units from six departments responded to the fire.
