BEAVERCREEK —

A suspicious suitcase found Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of a bookstore on North Fairfield Road, across from the Fairfield Commons Mall, has been detonated.

No one was hurt and nothing suspicious was found inside the suitcase, according to Beavercreek police Capt. Doyle Wright.

The package was reported to police at about 2:06 p.m. in the parking lot of the Family Christian Bookstore, 2742 N. Fairfield Road, across from the mall.

Police called in the Dayton Bomb Squad, and members of the squad used a robot to check out the case. Two officers in specialized impact suits checked out the suitcase, and then detonated it.

Police and fire officials closed off the immediate area and shut down North Fairfield Road around the suitcase while the situation was being handled. The roads have since been reopened to normal traffic, according to police.
