DAYTON —

A woman walking her dog in Triangle Park Sunday morning discovered the body of a man police said was stabbed and then likely moved to that location.

The man’s identification has not been released but police describe him as a Hispanic male and about 40 years old. The body was discovered at about 11:30 a.m. in the Ridge Avenue park.

Dayton police Sgt. Michael Godsey said the man had been stabbed “at least once.”

“It may or may not have happened here,” he said at the scene. “We don’t have any witnesses.”

Later in the day, Dayton police Sgt. Larry Tolpin confirmed the emerging belief an initial incident took place somewhere else.

“It’s pretty obvious he had bled out somewhere else and was disposed of there,” Tolpin said.

The body was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office for an autopsy, according to Godsey.

“There are some unique qualities to this and some evidence we’ve obtained here that should be able to help us and point us in the right direction,” he said.

As of Sunday night, police said they did not have any suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Dayton police at (937) 333-COPS.
