TRENTON, Butler County —

A deputy delivered a gift early on Christmas Eve after an expectant mother called 911 from a gas station.

Butler County sheriff’s Deputy David Runnells responded to the emergency call shortly after 4 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

Upon arriving at Speedway, 4682 Trenton-Oxford Road, Runnells met Trenton resident Heather Fitzgerald, who was in the back seat of a Ford Fusion.

She was ready to have her baby.

Runnells delivered the baby girl while waiting for the life squad, according to the sheriff’s office.

Mother and daughter were taken to Fort Hamilton Hospital, where they were doing well, according to the sheriff’s office.
