DAYTON —
Before riding away on a bicycle, a burglar assaulted a woman and took her purse early Monday.
Dayton policeresponded to the 100 block of Grove Avenue after Montgomery County Regional Dispatch received a 911 hang-up call at approximately 1:35 a.m., according to a police incident report.
The 69-year-old resident said she walked downstairs and noticed the lights were off and thought she had left them on.
When she turned the lights on, she saw an unknown white male wearing a tan coat, standing behind her TV stand.
Police said the burglar grabbed the woman by the neck and pushed her, then went upstairs and stole her purse.
The man was seen fleeing on a bicycle. One officer who responded said she saw a white male riding from the scene on a bike.
The victim told police her daughter is a heroin addict and the burglar may have been one of her ex-boyfriends.
In addition to bank cards, driver’s license and checkbook, the purse contained the victim’s car keys, $100 in cash and a prescription bottle of Adavan, also known as Ativan, a powerful drug used to treat anxiety or anxiety associated with symptoms of depression.
