Burglars target reservist’s home

DAYTON —

The father of a military serviceman found his son’s home had been burglarized and ransacked.

Kurt Caulley told News Center 7’s Kate Bartley he went to check on the home Wednesday and discovered the back door had been kicked in.

“The one thing you can say is that a thief will not discriminate,” said Caulley, whose son works at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. “If they see an easy mark they’re going to get it.”

The crime must have happened sometime after Oct. 24 when Caulley’s son, who is in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, left to visit his wife who is stationed in another state while serving in the U.S. Navy.

Dayton police said one or more persons went through every room in the home and left open cabinets, drawers and closets. A 55-inch LED TV and custom-built computer were noticeably missing, according to the police report.

To provide a tip to help police in the investigation of this crime, call Dayton police at (937) 333-COPS (2377) or the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center at (937) 225-4357.
