DAYTON, Ohio —

Dayton police said a person driving more than 100 miles per hour lost control and wrapped around a utility pole on North Main Street.

Roger Lee Newman, 27, of Dayton, was killed in the crash. According to police, Newman was a passenger in the vehicle. The driver was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and that person's condition is not known.

The crash happened around 3:00 a.m. and Lee Hayden was a witness. Hayden said, "When I looked up he was coming down Main Street and lost control of the car."

The impact broke the car into three pieces.

The car crashed in front of a 24-hour daycare and workers inside heard a horrible boom They said they were shocked when they looked outside.

Lee Hayden, who was also on the road, said he's lucky to be alive. "Luckily, I swerved over to miss it, but I really feel for them."
