EATON, Oh. —

A mother and a child are recovering after being burned in a fire near Eaton Friday night.

Fire investigators said a fire to burn rubbish had been set in the yard of a home on state Route 732 in Dixon Township.

They said the fire was smoldering so gasoline was poured on it, which caused a flash fire.

The mother and her 2-year-old were burned in the flash.

The woman was taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital with burns officials said are moderate.

The child was taken to Children's Medical Center with burns officials said were minor to moderate.

The case remains under investigation.
