MIAMI VALLEY —

The overnight weather in the Miami Valley will be colder than first thought as the temperature is expected to dip as low as 28, said Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson.

Morning commuters should expect some patchy fog that won’t be as widespread or dense as Thursday morning, but there could be a few more school delays this morning.

After fog burns off, it will be sunny the rest of the day.

Simpson expects lower afternoon high temperatures in the mid 50s. Friday will be the first day in two weeks with an above average high temperature, Simpson said. The Miami Valley will stay above average through the weekend before another significant cool down occurs Tuesday behind a cold front, he said.

Ahead of the cold front, weekend afternoon highs are expected to be in the mid 60s while low temperatures Saturday and Sunday morning are expected to be in the low to mid 40s. Skies in the Miami Valley will be fairly sunny all weekend.

“The only negative to the weekend will be 15- to 25-mph breezes in the afternoons, so any leaf raking may be counterproductive and perhaps wiser in the mornings,” Simpson said.

For Monday afternoon, look for a line of showers and some likely thunderstorms. It will be more windy Monday and a threat of strong winds with storms is not out of the question, said Simpson. The area will dry out Monday night, but temperatures Tuesday morning will fall to about 30 degrees .
