Covington sports, remembers a man who meant so much

By Steve.Baker@CMGOhio.com

COVINGTON. Ohio —

"This week Covington lost member of the Buccaneer family Donny Yingst, who spent his life working with the kids in our community," said Bev Retz of Covington.

Whether it was coaching the kids in basketball, baseball and softball, umpiring games at the park, working the scoreboard at basketball and football games or helping paint Smith Field, Donny was always there for the kids.

"To honor Donny, there will be a "Candlelight Memorial" at the high school baseball field on Sunday, June 3rd at 8:00pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend and kids who play ball are asked to wear their jersey's - regardless of whether you are from Covington, Bradford, Pleasant Hill or any other surrounding town. Donny had an impact on all kids and on this night we honor him as one family united," continued Retz.

CANDLE LIGHT MEMORIAL will have candles and glow sticks for $1. Concession will be open and donation boxes available. All proceeds will go to the family to pay for funeral expenses. Please come out to remember Donny. He meant so much to so many on this night we honor him as one family united. Please share this event!
