WILBERFORCE, Ohio —

Authorities said a construction worker was seriously injured when the crane he was working in tipped over and crashed to the ground in Greene County.

The accident happened Tuesday morning on the campus of Central State University in Xenia Township.

Fire officials said the man was 40 feet in the air when the crane collapsed. Several CSU students saw the crane tumble to the ground with the worker.

Authorities said a construction worker was inside the lift at the time of the collapse. They said he fell 40 feet to the ground and was rushed to a local hospital by Careflight.

Fire officials said the worker is listed in critical condition.

Officials said the man was working on the new College of Education building on the campus.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called to investigate the accident.
