This pizza delivery car was damaged by a Dayton police cruiser in a crash at South Smithville Road and Elliott Avenue.

DAYTON —

Officers are investigating an early Sunday morning crash between a car and a Dayton police cruiser. The accident happened at South Smithville Road and Elliott Avenue.

Investigators said that a pizza delivery car was northbound on South Smithville Road.

A Dayton officer, responding to a downtown disturbance call, was westbound on Elliott Avenue.

The cruiser and the car collided at the intersection. The police car ended up in a yard, and came very close to hitting a house.

The pizza delivery driver was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment of minor cuts.

The police officer was not hurt.
