Dayton Power and Light crews restored power to a wide area of Fairborn on Monday night after a pickup truck hit a utility pole on South Maple Avenue.
At one point an estimated 3,218 customers were without power in the minutes after the accident, which occurred just before 10 p.m.
Power has since been restored to the neighborhood, and South Maple Avenue is open again. However, police said that Powell Avenue remains closed.
Police at the scene were not releasing much information about the driver of the truck, which had come to rest on its top. According to police and fire radio communications, the person who was driving the truck was taken to Soin Medical Center. There was no word on that person’s condition.
DP&L Spokesman Tom Tatham said the crash broke the pole and workers would have to replace it. Crews were working to restore power by switching circuits, he said. .
