CONNERSVILLE, Ind. —

A 42-year-old described as a leader of a 4-H club here will be in a Fayette County courtroom Tuesday in answer to charges accusing him of texting sexually explicit pictures to children.

A mother who was alert enough to check her daughter’s cell phone to find a sexually suggestive photo led to the arrest Monday of Brian Gilbert, Connersville police told News Center 7’s John Bedell.

Detectives traced the picture message sent Nov. 26 to Gilbert’s phone, and they said he has admitted to texting four of the same explicit photos to three other children.

Monday night, Gilbert remained in the Fayette County Jail on 16 felony counts of disseminating harmful material to minors. Bond was set at $64,000. His arraignment is set for Tuesday in Fayette County Superior Court.

Police told Bedell the pictures Gilbert is accused of sending are of another adult and would be classified as “pornography.”

They also said Gilbert likely got the photos off the Internet and they do not involve anyone in the Connersville area.

The investigation into the allegations is ongoing because the Indiana State Police are performing forensics exams on Gilbert’s phone. Connersville police said the phone was the only thing they confiscated from Gilbert.

According to police, Gilbert is a leader of the Green Clovers 4-H club in Connersville but they said the charges are “not directly related to his involvement with the organization.”
