DAYTON —

Police responding to a report of shots fired at a nightclub early Monday morning ended up chasing a fleeing vehicle at high speeds through downtown.

Now six men are facing felony weapons and drug charges.

The incident began when security employees at Club Vex, 101 S. St. Clair St., called police to report shots had been fired at about 2:20 a.m. They alerted police that the suspects were driving a blue Buick, according to a Dayton Police report.

As police pulled up to the corner of Main and Fifth streets, about three blocks from the club, they saw the described vehicle with six men inside. According to the report, as police approached the driver took off through a red light and sped at 75 mph westbound on Fifth Street. The vehicle jumped a curb at Wilkinson and Fourth Streets and came to rest with several flat tires, according to the report.

Three of the men inside took off running but where apprehended, while another three stayed with the car and surrendered to police immediately.

All six were booked into the Montgomery County Jail pending formal charges of tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, carrying concealed weapons, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of drugs, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Two guns were found, one in the car and one on the ground near it, according to the report. Police also located 12 capsules full of heroin, a large number of empty capsules and a digital scale in the car.

Arrested were:

  • Maurice Myles, 22
  • DelaQuan Ramey, 22
  • Kenan Darden, 22
  • Darius Benson, 24
  • Tyshaun Wilson, 21
  • Darryl Bradley, 24

Myles is also being held on a probation violation stemming from a 2011 drug trafficking case.
