DAYTON —

The 42-year-old man extradited to Ohio from California this week stemming from a 2007 home invasion case remains in jail on a $750,000 cash bond.

Troy Patterson had his bond set Thursday during his initial appearance in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on 17 felonies, according to court records.

Patterson was returned to jail early Wednesday after his arrest in Los Angeles on charges there involving assault and burglary, Greg Flannagan, Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman, told News Center 7.

Patterson was wanted in the Oct. 31, 2007, attack and assault committed with an accomplice at 5011 W. Hillcrest Ave., according to Flannagan.

According to a county grand jury indictment returned in August 2011, Patterson is charged with 17 felony counts that include aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, assault and kidnapping.

Patterson is the fifth co-defendant in the case, Flannagan said, but a grand jury ignored charges for three of the co-defendants.

Patterson and Lloyd Jefferson, one of the co-defendants the grand jury did not ignore, were accused of invading the home of Charles Easterling, on West Hillcrest Avenue, on Oct. 31, 2007, because they thought Easterling was a drug dealer and had lots of cash, Flannagan said. Patterson and Jefferson are accused of forcing Easterling to the floor at gunpoint and assaulting him, Flannagan said.

Jefferson, convicted in the case, was sentenced in November 2011 on several felony counts of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, assault and kidnapping. He remains in the Ross County Correctional Institution in Chillicothe.

Patterson had been wanted on an arrest warrant issued in August 2011.
