SPRINGFIELD —
Police are hoping DNA and blood left at the scene of a break-in at a food pantry lead to an arrest.
A person or persons broke out two windows at the Hands & Feet Pantry, 332 S. Wittenberg Ave., in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 27, according to a Springfield Police Division incident report.
Police dispatched to the address were told that two windows on the north side of the business had been broken out, and it appears that the burglar or burglars gained entry through one or both of those windows.
A third window on the east side of the business, part of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign and Logan counties, looked to have been broken from the inside, according to the incident report.
Nothing appeared to have been taken, but police noticed blood on the exterior of one window and more blood inside on various items, including one of the freezers.
Police collected the blood evidence as well as DNA and have submitted the samples for testing.
