A Centerville High School teacher and former girls golf coach was indicted Wednesday on three third-degree felony counts of sexual battery against a female former student during the 2005-06 school year.

A Montgomery County grand jury returned an indictment against Michael C. Weaver, 43, who teaches government classes. The allegations are from a woman who was a junior at Centerville High School that year. Weaver is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 14.

The statement of facts from Kettering Municipal Court show that the woman told police Dec. 20 that she engaged in sexual conduct with Weaver on three separate occasions in the area near Marshall Road. The estimated dates range from Aug. 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006.

“High school teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of educating young adults,” Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said in a press release. “By developing a sexual relationship with this student, not only did the defendant break the law, but he also took advantage of his position of trust.”

Centerville police ask that if anyone else has information about Weaver to call Det. Nadia Dexter at (937) 428-4705.

Weaver has been on administrative leave since shortly after his arrest earlier this month.
